The Match is a brilliant book about a match between Ben Hogan & Byron Nelson playing against Harvie Ward & Ken Venturi at the world famous Cypress Point Golf Course in California USA.
I have read the book twice ( and no doubt I will read it again ) as it is a superb book for any one interested in golf and the history of golf.
Towards the end of the book the author talks about Marion Hollins who the Women’s Amateur Championship in 1921.
Marion had designed Cypress Point.
Marion could hit a driver over 250 yards and with every swing she paused at the top of her back swing and silently recited the word ‘ poise ‘
Perfect.
Stopping at the top is a great way to remain in control of the golf club.
