Martin Young has won his first tournament of the year, the South East of England Mid Amateur Championship with a score of 214 over three rounds.
Martin sent me a text – first event, first win, tough conditions, one mental error, one bad swing in 54 holes. This fade lark seems to work O.K.
It sure does Martin. The current world No.1, Dustin Johnstone sees every shot as a fade as did the worlds best ever golfer Jack Nicklaus.
A true fade makes every fairway and green 50% bigger. Think about it for a little while. If you aim down the left side of the green or fairway then you have all of the green or fairway to fade the ball into. My pupils eventually cut out the left side of the course almost completely. A great feeling.
