The current Lockdown has produced a very strange world.

We are all deeply saddened that so many people in the world have been effected and even sadder for the thousands who have lost their lives.

In the scheme of things golf is not really that important but to many golf is an intregal part of their lives and to others it is indeed their livelihoods.

My Father was a golf professional and when I left school aged, 16 he took me to a factory in Grantham, Lincolnshire, UK. At the time we actually lived on the golf course – the lovely and very quite Belton Park Golf Club.

In the factory above the noise my Father said – ‘ now you have left school do you want to come and work here?’

I said no immediately and could not wait to get back to the tranquiliy of golf club soon enough.

‘Well’ my Father said ‘ why don’t you come and work on the golf course’ I did for a year and loved every second of it – even hollow tining the greens by hand was great.

After one year I started as an assistant professional to my Father – a very wise man as I now know.

I have stayed in the great game all of my life and do you know why?

It is because of the wonderful PEOPLE in the game – thank you.
