All golf shots should be hit forward and not upwards or downwards.

The golf club at the top of the backswing with any club is up in the air so we can guarantee 100% that it will come down so there is no point in attempting to bring the club down.

The same swing with a lob wedge would have hit the ball about 60 yards.

Please do not try this with your own putter as the one that Morgan used was about 50 years old with a stainless steel head and a very strong hosel. A modern putter is designed differently and could well break. Use an old putter and you will also be astonished how far a golf ball can be hit with a putter.

All golf shots are hit forward.
Many of my pupils initially attempt to hit the golf ball on the upswing with a driver and they always improve when they change their concept and simply hit the ball forward. If you go on line and look at the Trackman data you will discover that the average tour professional actually hits the ball with a driver very slightly on the downswing ( 1.3 degrees) This amount is so insignificant that it is far easier to think of hitting all shots forward.
Golf is not an easy game so make it a little easier by hitting all shots with all clubs forward.
