hitting-plane

I have a paperback book in my studio with a retail price when new, of .60pence.

It was written by a gentleman who retired and quickly became a scratch golfer.

The book is very succinct.

The photograph shows a great image to have for every cub. I have always believed that the golf ball has to be hit forward, not up or down.

The hitting plane in your mind should be vertical so in essence the ball is being hit along the ground but it will fly in the air because of the loft angle of the club head.

This angle will vary from a putter, with approximately four degrees, to a lob wedge with approximately 60 degrees.

One of my pupils with a handicap of 0ne had great success in his last lesson by trying to hit every shot along the ground with a six iron – the ball flew longer and lower and more importantly with greater consistency.

Do try and hit the ball along the ground as the loft angle will do its job.
